It has a seating capacity of 41,820 spectators and is named after the Feroz Shah Kotla, a fortress built in the 14th century by Sultan Feroz Shah Tughlaq. The stadium has been the home ground of the Delhi Capitals team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) since the inception of the tournament in 2008.


The Feroz Shah Kotla Ground has hosted several international cricket matches, including Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. It has also been the venue for several historic cricket moments, including Anil Kumble's 10-wicket haul against Pakistan in 1999 and Virender Sehwag's triple century against South Africa in 2008.
